TRAVEL TIPS: Autumn and spring are increasingly popular times for golfing and shopping, and you will find plenty of vacationers from cold places like Buffalo, New York, or Vermont who think the weather is perfect here for the beach in April. But the most popular season still is summer, the warm midyear months, with July Fourth as the busiest weekend. July also is the hottest month; temperatures average 87 degrees (30 Celsius) and the seaside humidity can make it feel hotter, but often the afternoon brings a sea breeze or even a thundershower.

Theyll undertake an economic impact study, its first since 2005 when results showed the tournament generated about usd. 84 million each year to the region.

Although the Bulldogs were able to secure their first conference championship in program history, last season many of the players and coaches felt they could have accomplished even more and were not pleased with their performance in the NCAA tournament; being knocked out in the first round by Vermont.

And ldquo;He does a good job of keeping the game fun because I think it is easy for teams to almost get too serious sometimes and forget the reason they play the game," Little said. "For example, we played pond hockey last year out on the golf course and we recently played some street hockey in the gym. It helps remind guys how much fun the game is and how lucky they are to have such great teammates. and rdquo;

Hes played his G-rated shtick at churches, retirement homes and open-mic nights at Visanis Comedy Zone in Port Charlotte. Previous incarnations as a federal border guard, social worker and gubernatorial candidate provide him with endless grist. He can also mine his exploits from the golf links and the racquetball courts, thanks to fiberglass prosthetics.

And that explains why the 59-year-old Vermont snowbird is looking for another gig as a standup comic. No joke. Because for every whiner out there who needs to shut up, theres somebody else who can use a boost. The seasonal resident of what he calls a "double-wide blowaway" can testify.

I wanted to push myself further. So in , I played tennis in the Transplant Games. Then the wife of one of my teammates told me about a womens triathlona half-mile swim, followed by a 12-mile bike ride and a 2. 1-mile run. The event was scheduled for a year later at Mount Snow, Vermont, and I thought, Let me see if I can work up to that.

The prostheses allowed me to branch out into other sports. In 2007, I won silver medals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the Endeavor Games. Ive been on a relay team in a couple of triathlons and played in a golf tournament. But my main sport is skiing. I live in Clarksville with my wife and three kids, but Ive spent the past three winters in Aspen, competing in Alpine events with financial support from the Veterans Paralympic Performance Program.

Niehues doesnt just paint ski areas, although the millions of his trail maps distributed by resorts across the world are certainly the fount of his fame. He has done dozens of regional maps, illustrations of golf courses and resort villages and magazine-commissioned landscapes. Yosemite is one of his favorites, with misting waterfalls dotting the craggy park.

If not for Jim Niehues, there would be very few trail maps available," said Jerry Friedlander, whose Vermont-based Artistic Ski Maps sells prints of Niehues work. "Without him, there would be no ski-map industry. "
