Swimming advisories are still in effect for Gulf waters across much of the state, but beaches are open with relatively little oil sullying Alabama shores. Fishing, golf, restaurants and attractions are open for business from Orange Beach to Fort Morgan. While returning visitors may notice some changes, a Gulf Coast vacation may be the best thing people can do to help mitigate the damage inflicted by the biggest oil spill in U. S. history.

Exactly H2theK. Go to Camp David, and stop hitting all the elite vacation spots. Its disrespectful to those who are struggling. Most of us get two weeks paid vacation a year. Granted the POTUS job is a little more demanding, but really Not counting his 26 days at Camp David in the first year, he spend 27 days on vacation elsewhere. Thats 2. 7 times the average American vacation time. Yep he sure can realte to us, right

Weir doesnt want to admit the truth, but if this were any other tournament than the Canadian Open, hed probably be on jet back to his home in Utah. He was clearly in significant pain today, acknowledging friends and colleagues by shaking hands with his left, all the while holding his right arm tight to his body. While hes tanned from his vacation, he looked uncomfortable throughout his meeting with the Canadian media yesterday.

Down time down east "I am going to get a week in August, thankfully, and Im going to go to P. E. I. -- just across the Confederation Bridge in the jurisdiction of my good friend Robert Ghiz, where Ill have a chance to relax for a week. I love to read. I play golf, although badly. I always tell people I prefer bad golf and good conversation over good golf and bad conversation. Even at my age I play basketball fairly regularly. We have a franchise called the Halifax Rainmen . they had what they called a Legends Game. I played in that game. Im hardly a legend. I played in university, at Kings College. Ima guard. Im five-foot-nine-and-a-half. There are lots of good short point guards, as people know. "

It seems that slamming presidents for taking time to relax with their families away from the White House is now as much a tradition as family vacations themselves, but the Republican National Committee has taken such criticism to a new level with a website that asks the question: "Play golf or save the Gulf. "

There are enough problems at any moment that they open themselves up to the How can the president take a vacation at a time like this question," said David Lewis, professor of political science at Vanderbilt University, who specializes in the presidency.

Bush was also as drawn to golf as Obama is, but he stopped playing after the 2003 bombing at the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, claiming that it sends the wrong signal to play golf during war. Despite being a wartime president, Obama continues to play. For us, it and rsquo;s not so much that he plays golf during wartime, but more so that he plays the and ldquo;rich man and rsquo;s and rdquo; sport so often during America and rsquo;s economic hardship.
