2008-05-17 Drilling for a Deeper Meaning

Bryant grew up in a Mormon household with a dad who worked on the rigs and an older brother who broke Bryants nose four times in the course of their childhood and classmates who taunted him and two sisters who defended him. He loved to hunt and fish and ride, but he had a mulish streak, to put it mildly: He spent hours swimming in an icy pond trying to retrieve his friends first shot goose, except that Bryant couldnt swim and almost died. He almost sliced his foot off while chopping wood but wouldnt get into the neighbors truck for fear of leaving bloodstains and almost died again from loss of blood. He drove out into Wyoming snow in terrible weather and stalled the car. His passengers resigned themselves to death, but Bryant stopped a train with his headlights and saved the day, just barely.

2008-07-10 The Longmont Daily Times-Call

Brian Haas of Longmont is one of two local golfers who will make their professional debuts at the Wyoming Open starting Friday at the Airport Golf Club in Cheyenne. Haas, 26, is a 2000 Niwot High School graduate and is currently the assistant golf pro at Twin Peaks Golf Course in Longmont.

The Wyoming Open will be the largest tournament of Haas life. While playing for Niwot, Haas and the Cougars never qualified for the state tournament. Haas was offered a scholarship to play for Hastings College in Nebraska, but decided college wasnt for him. After working a handful of unsatisfying jobs, Haas made the decision to work on his game and try his hand at making a living on the golf course.
