The Wisconsin Dells High School varsity golf team members wrapped up a busy stretch with a 27-hole fun event played at Coldwater Canyon at Chula Vista Resort on Saturday.

Then, on Saturday, the Chiefs played in the 27-hole golf challenge which saw six players each from Wisconsin Dells, Portage, Reedsburg and New Holstein competing as teams.

Wagner, who is now a junior at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, won the Division III national championship with a four-day score of 302 that stood atop the 101-golfer field at Zollner Golf Course Friday.

When I took second in high school, I thought Id won it, so this is the icing on the cake. Ive also got another year left and it should be a lot of fun, said Wagner, who is the first ever national champion for the Blugolds. Violent thunderstorms will continue to develop from southeastern Kansas to northern Illinois and neighboring Wisconsin through this afternoon with parts of the southern Plains also becoming threatened.

As the afternoon progresses, more powerful thunderstorms will erupt from southeastern Kansas to northern Illinois and neighboring Wisconsin.

Winds estimated between 65 and 70 mph blew some shingles off a roof outside of Des Moines, Iowa, this morning. Meanwhile, golf ball-sized hail slammed an area near Brooks, Wis.

A few tornadoes touched down in Kansas and Iowa, killing two people. Thunderstorms in eastern Kansas produced baseball-sized hail at Scranton and golf ball-sized hail at Silverdale.
