Virginia Golf 2006-12
Virginia Golf 2006-122007-01-03 Sports: On the brink of greatnessIts so easy to forget she is only 17 years old. But were reminded of it when we realize she still isnt eligible (without petition) to join the LPGA Tour, and therefore cannot be ranked in the LPGA standings. And while she has never won a tournament, she was at one point the No. 2 female golfer in the world in the World Golf Ranking. Okay, true, she hasnt won yet. But she finished in the top three in three of the four majors in 2006. Its only a matter of time before she breaks through, and this will be the year. She says shes going to Stanford, but that shouldnt stop her from joining the LPGA when she turns 18 in October. Our prediction: She will someday be the best female golfer in the world. And she will take her first steps toward that in 2007. But lets not actually make the City cyclist friendly, lets just say we are. The City of Va Bch seems to have a unique ability to come up w/ grand ideas that include all but their local citizens. 2006-12-09 The Charleston Gazette - OpinionOther forms of energy are being researched even now. If mountaintop removal were prohibited, research would proceed at a faster pace. The concern about jobs being lost doesnt hold up in the light of the statistics. Coal production statistics for West Virginia for 2003 (the latest year for which statistics are available) show that counties where underground mining is practiced are the largest employers of miners. Each time new technology has been introduced, such as the longwall drill, fewer miners have been needed. With mountaintop removal, one man, with one of the monster machines, can do the work of many miners. This method of mining is clearly the most feasible and cheapest for the coal companies, but at what price wvgazette.com

2006-12-31 ARTICLE: City wonders if developers Beach plan is legitimate (The Virginian-Pilot / )I really hope that this all turns out as a big joke on the idiots on City Council. Maybe then they might fix some roads or build some schools instead of thinking of making Virginia Beach into a big Disney World. I bet they all were thinking "big kickback time", dollar signs dancing in their empty heads. But seriously, personally I think we should clean house at City Council and start all over with some more intelligent people that are for the people. content.hamptonroads.com City wonders if developers Beach plan is legitimate - Virginia Beach, News, Real Estate, The Virginian-Pilot

2006-12-06 ARTICLE: Beach has loose grip on spending for bike path (The Virginian-Pilot / )I contacted the League of American Bicyclists and they confirmed that Virginia Beach did not technically receive the Bicycle Friendly Community designation, they received an Honorable Mention for their apparent efforts (i. e. empty promises) towards becoming one. Of course, I question whether bicycles really need friends -- after all, theyre just simple machines. The human beings who ride the bikes, on the other hand, could use a few friends, or at least drivers who dont threaten them and endanger their lives, be it intentionally or ignorantly. content.hamptonroads.com Beach has loose grip on spending for bike path - , Opinion, Kerry Dougherty, The Virginian-Pilot
2007-01-01 Winston-Salem Journal HE KNEW: Randle had Grobe as player, assistantUlmo "Sonny" Randle, a Virginia native who will turn 71 on Saturday, shone like a gem in the muddy stream of 1950s UVa. football. He was a receiver fast enough to compete in the Olympics trials and make the roster of the Chicago Cardinals in 1959. Although thin by modern measures, the granite-jawed Randle was tough enough to absorb nasty hits while snagging passes with his sure hands. East Carolina promoted assistant Randle to head coach in 1971. His teams finished -2 and 9-2 and won the 1972 Southern Conference title. Randle left a firm foundation for Pat Dye and took the Virginia job despite the Cavaliers lowly status (similar to Dukes today) and stiffer academic rules. www.journalnow.com - Winston-Salem Journal JournalNow Ask SAM business calendar weddings obituaries newspaper article news entertainment autos cars news stories classifieds sports employment jobs What
