Activities and hobbies: I coached soccer for the Loudoun Youth Soccer Association from 1996-2004, when my sons, Drew and Nathan, played in the Association league. Now, I coach the boys on the golf course. My family and I are members of the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn and enjoy playing together and competing. Much of my family life has centered around the golf course since I grew up playing at the Country Club of Fairfax and captained the Thomas Jefferson High School team. Some of my fondest memories are of golf matches with my family. At 81 years of age, my father and mother still take advantage of all of us on the golf course, and with five boys, daughters-in-law and many grandchildren, thats a lot of competition. I also enjoy reading fiction of all types.

He had stints as head mens basketball coach (1949-68; 19 seasons), assistant mens basketball coach (1968-71), assistant football coach (1949-76), head mens tennis coach -70, 1976-81; 25 seasons), intramural director (1949-53), instructor in the physical education department (1949-81), and as the pro at the Portage Lake Golf Course (1953-72). His mens tennis teams had seven unbeaten seasons and won four Northern Intercollegiate Conference titles. In mens basketball, Cox won the Northern States College Conference and led the Huskies to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1962-63.

But brothers Mark Gauley and Brian Gauley of Wake County, who had fired a 10-under-par 62 in the final round of regulation play, won the Carolinas Golf Association championship event on the third playoff hole.

Hokies head coach Oliver Weiss was an assistant under Bolowich when Carolina won the 2001 NCAA championship. He has taken Virginia Tech twice into the NCAA Tournament since moving the Blacksburg. The Hokies traveled to UNC Greensboro to face the Spartans in first-round action. The winner advances to play at No. 6 West Virginia on Wednesday.
