2006-10-10 College Football-Rodriguez doesnt enjoy homecoming like ex-players do

Because of the staggered schedule and a bye week, No. 5 West Virginia (5-0) has a seven-day preparation period for only the second time this season as it gets ready to play its Big East opener at home against Syracuse -1) on Saturday.

Said one Mountaineer fan last year at homecoming: "Im a West Virginia fan, but if you want proof, Ill smile real big and show my ONE tooth".

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Theres something about playing on Saturdays that seems odd for West Virginia coach Rich Rodriguez.

2006-10-09 Charlotte Observer Myrtle pushes fall visits

Since just after Labor Day, ads have bombarded potential travelers within 300 miles with a message that the beach - though not in its summer prime - is still ready to greet travelers with golf courses, shopping, festivals and, for the frugal travelers, lower off-season rates.

Ads appear in 20 markets within 300 miles, including Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and some parts of Maryland and Tennessee.

The usd. 300,000 campaign supplements the usual fall advertising done by Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday to lure business for the links.
