Slow moving thunderstorms navigating through very humid air caused the local flooding, meteorologists said. Saturdays storms came just four days after other thunderstorms caused widespread wind damage in Vermont and pelted some communities with hail the size of golf balls.

In Rutland, as many as 80 properties were damaged, most with basement flooding but some with water in living areas, Vermont Emergency Management reported.
