With the water level in Waterbury Reservoir being lowered for the past six-plus years, a lot of plant life sprung up on the newly exposed shore. Now that things are back to normal, all that scrub brush is underwater creating exciting new cover and a natural nursery for fish. I think in the past few years bass fishing at the reservoir has been lacking a bit (its still pretty good though, thanks to much of the best spawning areas being inaccessible and the varying water levels). If things remain constant now that the dam is nearing repair, I dont think its much of a stretch to predict that in three or four years Waterbury Reservoir will be the premier smallmouth fishery in Vermont. (Lake Champlain is pretty good, but some of it IS in New York)
