Vermont Golf 2008-082008-08-23 Business Digest: Providence gets good news from rating agency Business The Providence JournalA new study says Vermont and its utilities should pursue medium-sized power plants, rather than large ones, as the state looks to meet future demand for power. The study, by Connecticut-based consultant Essex Partnership done for Central Vermont Public Service Corp. , Green Mountain Power Corp. and the Washington and Vermont Electric cooperatives, says renewable sources such as wind and farm methane can play an important role in the states energy future. But it says those sources alone will not replace the states two largest power sources the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant and the provincial utility Hydro-Quebec. The study did not come down firmly in support of any one solution to Vermonts future energy needs, but utility and state officials said its analysis seemed to point toward a path of multiple, Rhode Island business news coverage from The Providence Journal, including local real estate and technology, as well as links to national stories. - Rhode Island financial news providence business news Rhode Island business news Providence Journal business news Rhode Island housing companies stocks stock reports tax tips technology

2008-09-01 Bagging resident Canada geese is not so easy The Burlington Free PressMy trials and tribulations on Lake Arrowhead are rather extraordinary. A few years ago the lake was pretty much drained as Central Vermont Pubic Service was conducting some sort of maintenance on the dams it operates on the lower Lamoille River. That left giant mud flats on Arrowhead where, it seemed, every goose that hatched within 200 miles of Franklin County would lounge away the day. The first problem is that Ive pretty much always equated geese hunting with being in a field, usually a corn field, and come the first few weeks of September there just arent a whole lot of cut corn fields in Vermont. That meant a quick change of tactics was in order. www.burlingtonfreepress.com Ive seen resident Canada geese startled by decoys -- as if their little brains had not been programmed to flock. - Local News Burlington Vermont News local news headlines stories world news
2008-08-25 National Journal Online - Delegates Hope to Showcase Their Electric CarsWin a place as a Vermont delegate. "I didnt want to say, Vote for me because Im young. So I did a little research on the convention home page, and noticed the green challenge. I had been interested in ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and no one had actually won the challenge yet. That became my campaign promise, and I spent my own money buying all the carbon offsets (for the Vermont delegation). " Still, Vermont wasnt first. "California beat us by a couple of hours. "
