Nationwide Golf Tour2010-07-29 Potter back in Nationwide Tour fieldA group of Ocala junior golfers will try their luck against a strong statewide championship field this weekend when the FSGAs Junior Match Play takes place in Vero Beach. The boys 13-15 championship takes place at Sandridge Golf Club and includes Trinity Catholic rising sophomore Evan Byrd. The girls 13-18 event is at the same course and includes St. John golfers Kristine Odaiyar and Angela Gaines. Meanwhile, the boys 16-18 field will compete at Indian River Club, where current Star-Banner golfer of the year Teddy Lausier (St. John), former golfer of the year Bryan Odaiyar (St. John graduate) and Osten Waite (Trinity) will compete. The Match Play format covers four days and includes 18 holes of stroke play to establish seeding followed by three days of single-elimination matches. 2010-07-14 Notebook: Tomasulo moving up, Kirk leads in earningsHerman played his junior golf, high school golf (St. Xavier) and college golf (University of Cincinnati) locally and still has many family members and friends in the area. As a senior in high school, he helped the St. Xavier Bombers take home the state title. He went on to win five college tournaments and in the summer of 2000 won the Cincinnati Met Amateur. Shortly thereafter he turned pro and won the Southern Ohio PGA Open. His professional golf career includes a stint as an assistant professional for Donald Trump and Trump National Golf Club in northern New Jersey. The 32-year-old now lives in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Herman won his first Nationwide Tour title this February in Australia (Moonah Classic) and currently sits 10th on the money list.
