Maryland Golf 2006-122006-12-09 Irwins family business on course for success : Golf : Boulder Daily CameraWith his dad still playing quite a bit, Steve, 32, handles much of the legwork for the Irwin golf projects, traveling extensively while living in Golden. Currently, the Irwins have two golf projects in the works one in McHenry in western Maryland and the other in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island in Hawaii. If all goes well, both courses will open in 2008. As for Hale Irwin Golf Services, Steve joined up about 31/2 years ago. He and Hale are the only two on the staff, though Steve works out of uncle Phil Irwins real estate brokerage and development office in Erie. Hale said Phil Irwin sometimes serves as an advisor in real estate matters. For his part, Hale has an office in Scottsdale, Ariz. , near where he lives.

He became a member of the rules committee for the U. S. Golf Association and the PGA.
