2006-08-17 Gomes educating the local kidsWayne Gomes, the former major leaguer now involved in local baseball ventures, took 15 kids from the revived Anderson Park Little League on a trip this week that includes exposure to the games Negro Leagues, an Orioles game and a trip to an amusement park in Maryland. The upshot was that Sims invited Gomes and his kids to Maryland as guests this week for ceremonies that include a press conference and meetings in Annapolis, an Orioles game with state officials, and a clinic with former New York Met Lenny Randle. It took him a while he detoured to become mens golf coach for the Terrapins from 1982-1988, and a rotator cuff injury also slowed him 1 before Funk earned his PGA Tour card in 1989. Funk slowly and steadily built a strong record 1 hes 14th on the career earnings list 1 and has seven tour wins, including the 2005 players championship. Now 50, Funk is one of the more popular players among hardcore golf fans. His following, Funks Punks, loves the big smiling turtle of a guy 1 whom many call the most accurate driver, if not the longest, around.
