2006-08-03 Kays Perseverance Pays Off in Worsham MemorialHilary Lawson won her third consecutive Middle Atlantic Golf Association junior girls championship last Friday at Country Club of Fairfax. Lawson, a 17-year-old senior at Magruder who finished second at the Maryland State Golf Associations junior girls championship the previous day, shot a 4-over-par 77 to win by three strokes over Kelly Lynch, 16, of Severna Park. Lynch also finished runner-up to Lawson last year. Lawson became only the second golfer to win three titles in a row in this event. Sarah LeBrun of Owings Mills also won three titles from 1981 to 83. Because the event was rained out in June, it was reduced from 36 holes to 18. After starting the day three strokes behind the leader in the final round of the 55th Bubby Worsham Memorial, Devin Kay thought he was out of contention when he bogeyed four consecutive holes on the back nine. Turns out, he wasnt the only one having problems. Kay, an All-Met from Churchill, ended.
