Belgium Golf 20072007-11-22 Cape Town International Jazz FestivalWhile Sutton will be the Rosies vocal anchor, Tutu Puoane takes charge at the Moses Molelekwa stage. Now based in Belgium, Puoanes appearance at the 2008 Cape Town International Jazz Festival is more of a homecoming. Born in Gauteng, Puoane spent years in Cape Town while studying at the University of Cape Town. It is during her stay at the home of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival that Puoane performed with artists such as Frank Paco, Jack van Poll and Marcus Wyatt. A 2004 recipient of the Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year Award for Jazz, Puoane is presently making a name for herself in Europe where she is the vocalist with the Frits Bayens Big Band in Holland. 2007-06-14 Tell us what you thinkCane Toad Golf Sure, the cane toads are a pest, but they didnt ask to be introduced. They have erradicated the cane beetle as was the purpose for their importation, but the individual animal doesnt have to be cruelly treated as a way of passing time for people with nothing better to do. As a proud Townsvillian, I dont want my name attached to any cruelty to animals, and I certainly dont want part of my hefty rates payments to go to advertising Tony Mooneys opinions. If there is a surplus in the rates kitty, surely our money would be better spent on a lot of other areas. How about a donation to the RSPCA shelter that relies on volunteers time and educates the public on the correct treatement of animals (not just the cute ones).
